That’s why we always keep our stores, parking lots, and backyards clean and
tidy. We’re also thoughtful when scheduling our neighborhood deliveries so they
occur at low-traffic times. Our truck drivers have a low noise policy and our
trailers are designed with lift gate systems to significantly reduce noise as
well. Just recently, we even removed backup beepers on trucks that make
deliveries to stores with homes nearby.
We also think it’s important to give back to the neighborhood. So every time we
open a new store, we make a $1,000 donation to a local group based on
suggestions from the neighborhood. We also set up food bank partnerships at
every location and provide all our stores with monthly budgets for product
donations.
We're proud to be one of just a few companies selected as a pilot member of the
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Volume
Certification Program. That means we are working together to make sure our
stores live up to high environmental standards structurally and functionally.
We are also members of the California Climate Action Registry which is
California’s only official and voluntary registry for greenhouse gas emissions
and the Climate Registry, a group that standardized the measurement for
greenhouse gas emissions across North America.
Reducing our impact on the environment is very important to us. So from day
one, we have made every effort to be as thoughtful as possible in all our
operations. From recycling, to energy efficient buildings, to our 500,000 sq.
ft. solar panel, we aim to be a global-leader for eco-friendly initiatives.
We're donating $1,000 to a neighborhood group every time we open a new store & when a store celebrates its one-year anniversary.
